Christkindl Gift Ideas - Make A Jägerbomb

So Christmas is coming and I guarantee you that you have that one person you got as a Christkindl and you've no idea what to get them? and to make it worse you've a budget of €10 oh and ehm yeah you have to make the gift... well, feck.
When one of my best friends turned 20 back in August I knew straight away her present would involve a nagan of Jager and I decided to give it a bit of a twist by genuinely making it into a 'Jägerbomb and now that Christmas is almost here I've decided to share this idea with you and give you some gift inspiration and here it is your very own                                         Jägerbomb
To make your own Jägerbomb all you need is a nagan of Jäger, two cans of red bull, two pipe cleaners, black tape and a piece of paper, oh and a pen ..that's it, that's all you need!!
There really isn't any science behind this you tape the cans onto the Jäger and stick on two pipe cleaners so it looks like a 'bomb' you then draw a little clock on a piece of paper and stick it on and there you have it your very own Jägerbomb...looks pretty impressive doesn't it!!

Let's Talk About Drugs

Before heading to college I knew little to nothing about drugs or pill taking, it just wasn't something I had ever been into nor had any of my friends so it wasn't something we ever talked about before I moved to Carlow I'd never even seen someone 'off their face' on drugs before but since coming down to college it's something I've grown immune to.
Before I begin with this post I understand I could potentially upset the majority of people reading this but it's a post about what I've learned about drugs and in this case pills, (aka ecstasy, MDNA, Yokes, hello kitties whatever you call them) and although I've never personally tried these drugs I want to talk you through the experiences I've had dealing with people 'off their faces' and 'dropping' and try to the best of my ability to explain the whole ins and outs of the pills whilst also chatting to some people I know who've tried them and left them plagued with guilt and regret.

So first of all what is ecstasy, yokes, MDMA??????
- Well the first time I heard about ecstasy was two years ago when I first saw project X, one of my favourite films as a matter of fact. A film about a house session that gets out of hand when the pills are found but that was the first time I'd heard about the drugs. Of course there was some awful, horrible stories that happened to young people trying the drug which I won't speak about as everyone knows themselves and don't need me to explain it but it wasn't until I moved to Carlow for college that I realised how mainstream 'yokes' were, nearly every second person you meet on a night out has 'dropped' a term for taking pills and most of the time you wouldn't even realise.

I went onto Frank.com to find out more about what Ecstasy is and I learned that 'E's' are the 'original party drug' because it was linked to dance parties and raves in the late 80's early 90's. People would take these tablets to feel awake and energised and really to be able to dance for hours and stay happy. This is something I've seen for myself and I can vouch and say I know someone who becomes the happiest, nicest person in the world when they have taken pills. The pills take about half an hour to kick in and then you've 3-6 hours before you have your 'comedown'.
I couldn't imagine what this must be like but having seen some people really struggling with their comedown it must be awful.

So what does Ecstasy do??
  •  Ecstasy is supposed to make you feel alert, alive and gives you an energy buzz the sounds and colour are supposed to be really intensified and makes everything incredible, yeah it may sound great but with awful side effects you'd have to ask is it really worth it?
  • It gives people temporary feelings of love and affection for the people they're with and the strangers around them. I've seen this through my own eyes numerous times and although it may not seem like a huge deal it can have consequences such as leading people to have unprotected sex and we all know how dangerous that can be, especially with a stranger.
What are the effects and the risks??
  • There are short term effects also associated with the pill such as feeling anxious and getting panic attacks, people can offer suffer with paranoia and even psychosis.
  • There is no way to tell what's inside a pill until you take it and it is rarely pure.
  • The comedown for ecstasy can really make people feel depressed and lethargic.
  • Long term users can suffer memory loss, anxiety and even depression.
Frank.com started that:
'A big problem with ecstasy is that it’s rarely pure. Sometimes, there is no MDMA at all. Sometimes, it contains other drugs, like PMA, which can be fatal. Regardless of what it looks like and what it is called, you can’t be sure what’s in a pill or a powder and you can’t predict how you’ll react.'

When I asked one IT Carlow student about drugs and how you'd go about getting them in Carlow she told me 'Drugs are everywhere in Carlow. You go to the foundry and you'll prob get offered pills or something or even after the foundry. The majority smokes weed. Every year there's just more and more drugs' I am by no means saying drugs are more common in Carlow than anywhere else in the country but I can only speak about my experiences and where I am when I spoke to one IT Carlow student about them trying a pill for the first time they told me they regretted it straight away and how they would never do it again ' never take them, I'm never doing it again'.
Whereas another told me they're the best things ever 'you feel like you're out of yourself looking in' I don't know make what you will of them but I can't say they're of any interest to me.

If you've gotten into drugs, or are thinking of trying them or want to know more there is some great help out there for you, some of the websites you can use are the likes of - http://www.talktofrank.com/emergency-help and http://www.drugs.ie/

Movie Review - The Lady In The Van

From the minute I saw the trailer for this movie I knew it was something I was going to see, I didn't care if I had to go alone this was a film I was going to go see and last weekend I finally got the chance to go and although this breaks my heart to say I'm slightly disappointed.
I don't know if it's one of those things that I just built up too much and there was no way it could possibly live up to my expectations but I found the trailer so much more funny than the actual film which is so sad.

The storyline itself though is brilliant, it's mostly based on a true story which makes it that little bit better. The story is about Ms Sheppard (Maggie Smith -who is legit my Icon) and how she lives in her van (on the run). She goes from place to place in her little mustard coloured van and he rude, heartless attitude just made me fall in love with Ms Sheppard (perhaps I see some of myself in her.... awks :/ )  but Smith portrays Ms Sheppard so so good. She oddly finds friendship with her 'neighbor' Alan and the two really do bring a smile to your face, oh and a heap of tears -you've been warned (but keep in mind I'm emotionally unstable).
The story is quite heartbreaking when you think about it as a whole, but it shows the ageing process well too.  Slightly too well if you ask me bringing up some odd emotions, and I'm not kidding!! The following morning I began to realise I only have a ten year window where I can have a mini cooper because turn 30 I'll be looking for a reliable mammy car... I know, what's that to be thinking about?!!
Overall I did really enjoy the film and when trust me when I say the funny parts were GENIUS!!! (I especially love that one there when she rolls down the hill) but I feel like the highlights of the movie are in the trailer and really didn't live up to my expectations at all.

Would I recommend you go to the cinema to see it? Well, I wouldn't not tell you to go but at the same time I can't say you need to run to the nearest Odeon or Omniplex or wherever like it's not a film you'd need to see before you die if you ask me but a decent flick overall -If you want to see what the film is all about and see every funny part then you can watch the trailer here:
Let me know if you go and what you think :)

Why I Can't Wait For Christmas

When it comes to Christmas I'm usually the grinch, I mean what's so great about Christmas?? Halloween any day, but this year I am counting down the days until Christmas... no joke!!
Okay so I know it's only November and so early to start the Christmas posts but let me tell you why this Christmas is going to be the most amazing year yet.
Plus this day next month is Christmas Eve ;)

The main reasons why I'm so excited for this year is because my favourite uncle Vincent is coming all the way home from Canada to spend Christmas with us and it's one of the most exciting things that has happened to me in years. Vincent is one of my favourite people in the world so just getting to see him this Christmas, let alone spend Christmas day with him is one of the best things in the world, best Christmas present ever.

Another reason why I can't wait for this year is because I get to spend three weeks back in my home town in Tipperary and I am honestly so excited. There's nothing like being at home and especially at Christmas time and since I've been living away from home I get the feeling that being at home, wrapped up in my pj's, watching Christmas With The Kranks with a cup of hot chocolate will be that little bit more magical.
I can go to the gate when I please, I can get up at 1 o'clock in the day and the best part is I'm at home in Carrick.

Along with my three weeks off and being at home I cannot wait to have time to spend with my friends, we're together every weekend but nothing compares to being able to text the girls at 11am or 11pm and making plans. With the girls mixed between Cork, Waterford, Limerick and Carlow it's going to be amazing to all be in the same town for so long....YES, I cannot wait!!

Carrick On Suir at Christmas in general is my favourite place to be (Okay so I do love Waterford also) but being home in Carrick is the best. I wrote about Christmas in Carrick before actually and it's actually been my most read post ever so if you wanna check that out and see why then you can do so here:

The annual tractor parade is back this year and set to be bigger than ever before and that alone is one of the biggest reasons I can't wait until Christmas (well, 12th of December) there's nothing more enjoyable than seeing these tractors and I truthfully cannot wait to see them again!!! https://www.facebook.com/events/1519989624991081/

And of course with Christmas just around the corner so is the New Year and trust me when I say 2015 is a year I won't be sad to see the back of!! Yes for new starts!!!

And so there it is, the main reasons I can't wait for Christmas this year of course I can't wait for the presents or the family parties or the 12 pubs and everything like that but yes Christmas 2015... gonna be MAMMOTH!!

A Week In Carlow

I'm asked all the time (especially by my mother) 'what did you get up to this week' well, this week in college I decided to have a golden week and document my entire week so you can get an insight into what a 'normal' week is like living and studying in Carlow. Even though it's pretty clear I'll be leaving out the mammoth amount of studying that I do during the week ;-) This week in Carlow has to have been one of the most boring longest week I've ever put down but here you go a basic week in C Low!!

Monday: Monday in college is a fine day, the media students in Carlow IT are so lucky because we don't start class until 11am so I arrive down early on Monday morning. First thing up on a Monday is management, not the most exciting class I'll admit then social psychology and IT. That's it, three classes on a Monday, lucky aren't we?!! My housemates didn't arrive until later on Monday so I went to college with my friend Abigeal, from there it was home to one of my best friends Mai's to find out goss from Sunday night and trust me when I say there was a lot of goss this week!!
From Mai's it was over to Tanya to begin our media project in the library, there's nothing better than catching up with Tanya after a weekend and discussing the weekends antics over a Costa cuppa tea then into class to catch up with the housemates and the girls.
After class we decided the time had come to begin our PR project so we headed up to the glass classroom and began our project and there we stayed until 7pm that night. From there it was home, cook dinner and then into bed... I know, such an exciting day in Carlow.

Tuesday: Tuesday a hurricane hit Carlow and it was terrible, awful weather all together so much so all the electricity in Carlow IT went off. Our first PR class was cancelled at 9am so thank the lord we weren't in until 10am, it was the one day the two housemates weren't going in for media I got up went to head off to college when it was declared our lecturer was out for the day so we weren't in until 3pm so to the library with us!! .. we spend 3/4 of the morning in the library before heading to get breakfast and back for class at 3 o'clock.
After a power shortage cut our IT class short it was time to head home and get ready for what was the longest most boring night of my life. 7pm must have lasted 4 solid hours and we were waiting for Geordie Shore to start at 10, Jennie was on dinner duty so it was pizza and wedges.. UNREAL and from then on the night draggeddddddd..... Mai called in then which resulted in a few drinks and couple of shots and then finally it was 10 o'clock and time for some Gaz!! And that was it, yet another Tuesday night done in Carlow.

Wednesday: Wednesday is student night out here in Carlow and once again all our lectures got cancelled so we just had one class at 9am and that was it. Jennie was heading to Galway and Shannon heading to Arklow so it was going to be a long, lonely day/night so I thought. After our class we headed into town so Annie could get her smiley pierced, so so cool!! From there we came back home and chilled until me and Annie decided to go back into town to do some alcohol shopping, and get something to eat, sometimes cooking just isn't going to happen, we then collected Annie's adorable baby Tommy and then it was home to get myself ready for the night ahead.
Annie and Tanya came over to pre drink before we headed to Emma's to officially pre drink then it was off into the foundry.. I won't go into detail on that night! But from the foundry it was home with Tanya, breadsticks and nutella and a good night was had.

Thursday: Thursday we had the day off college because it was the IT open day so yet another long, boring day! After Tanya and Annie departed I scoffed some noodles and met up with Mai K to swap the goss from the night before, Mai is one of those girls I couldn't live without in Carlow always there to solve my problems... aw she's the best, but anyway after strolling into the college we did the round of Carraig Abhainn and we went our separate ways.
It wasn't long after that Jennie came back from Galway and we decided to go call up to Annie's to see how Tommy was doing and have a catch up!
From there it was back home, D&G's = Wolf Of Wall Street = Perfect Thursday night!!

Friday: FRIDAYYYYY, my favourite day of the week!! Trust me by the time Friday comes the excitement to go home is abnormal but that's after you get through a mammoth day of college. After waking up at ten to 9 and pegging it across the road for class at 9am we were in college until 2pm but after a quick run into town it was back to class, home pack quickly and then hit the road.
One of me and Jennie's weekly rituals (okay so we've done it twice) is to pick our pip and peak of the week so once that was done it was time to depart and make my way back to Tipperary and that's about as exciting as my week was in Carlow.

Trust me I really wish I could tell you some exciting stories and crazy antics but this really has been one of the most boring, calmest weeks I've put down in Carlow but I hope it's helped you learn what it's like to be a regular student in college, don't worry I'll find an interesting week and inform you on that too ;)

The Sleek Contour Palette

If there's one essential beauty product I would recommend to every single girl out there it's this contour palette by 'Sleek'  I'm not even joking when I say this palette has changed my life!! Before I found this palette I found it so hard to contour and highlight, I always looked like I was covered in mud and could never get my cheeks sculpted the way I dreamed of having them.
One day my friend Carrie came over with this new 'contour palette' What the hell is this I asked?! 'I dunno, it was on sale in the chemist so I got it, I must text Haleigh and ask her how it works' and from then it's the one beauty product we're both obsessed with and will go to extreme lengths to ensure we have it in our make up purse.
The palette has your bronzer which is such a good brown, it comes out so well on the skin and can be buffed in without any difficulty, you can literally put on barley any of it and it still looks incredible. It literally sculpts your face so well and I love it.
Next in the set is the highlighter, now this, this is something else. It literally makes you glow like an angel it's the best of the best highlighters and just putting it on your forehead, above your cheeks and on your chin makes you look so great it's fantastic and then finally finish off with some blush, I don't personally adore the blush as I don't think it's very pink and I love deep blush but it's perfect to finish off your Kim K inspired contour.

Coming up to Christmas I would recommend this set as a stocking filler, a gift for your best friend or just a gift to me from me, I really cannot say enough good things about this palette.
It costs €13.49 and I always get mine in Sam Mccauleys chemist but they do tend to sell out so quickly so your best bet is to order is online. You can buy it here from the Sleek website and have it within a week.
For €13.49 you couldn't ask for a better product, believe me when I say I am IN LOVE and I really do recommend you go out and try out this contour palette. Be sure to let me know what you think :)

So Couture Collection *Review

For the majority of teenage girls in Ireland 'So' fragrances are one of the first perfumes they have ever had and just getting a sniff of 'So kiss me' can transport you back to the days of the innocent sixteen year old heading off to the local disco, it's without a doubt my teenage years in a bottle and the minute I heard of the new SO Couture collection I knew I couldn't wait to try them all out.
I couldn't believe the delight when the lovely people at 'SO' sent me some of the new collection to try out, I got given the perfume of 'Rio' and 'New York' and given the deodorant of 'Paris' and 'London' and let me tell you, I almost cried with delight and I really wasn't disappointed in this collection.

Each fragrance has a real distinct sense and I'm personally obsessed with the 'Rio' perfume. This perfume has hints of pineapple, mango and melon and I am obsessed with it and the best part??... It's €5.99.It also comes in body spray which is only €1.99 so if I was to recommend anything to you it's to go try this Rio one, I love it and Christmas is coming up ;)

My next favourite is which to be totally honest is up there with Rio and actually equal to me is the London fragrance, this has grapefruit, mandarin and apricot but also has a haze of jasmine, rose and violet. Base notes of sandalwood, vanilla and musk just make this fragrance so amazing and like nothing I've ever smelt before. I think if I could only have one perfume for the rest of my life this would be it, I'm in love and cannot wait to go buy another bottle of this gem.
Once again it's only €5.99 and the body spray is only €1.99 but believe me when I say you're going to get OBSESSED!!!!

What I love about 'SO' is that for us students it's so reasonable priced and has such a young girly scent that you can't help but adore it. There's no perfume out there that smells like So! and I can't get over how amazing this new collection smells.
The other two fragrances are the Paris one which scents of plums, roses and patchouli and the NYC one which has scents of lychee's and peaches.
Every perfume is so distinct that after spending a while smelling them you'll know exactly which one is which and they're so fruity and lovely. I'm truthfully obsessed.
If I could recommend anything for you to try over November/December it's this new collection, trust me.. treat yourself ;-)

Thank You Adele

It's not a said thing that I'm a fan of Adele's music, it's just that little bit too depressing for me that was of course until I heard 'hello' and almost fell off the chair. What a ballad, but what got me even more was when I saw the video and realised it was DIXON FROM 90210!! Well from that minute my childhood had come back and I couldn't thank Adele enough for bringing Dixon back into my life.
90210 was one of my all time favourite programmes and okay so Liam was always my number 1 Dixon was close behind and this new grown up version in 'Hello' gives me uncontrollable shivers! What a man.
It's on that note that the inspiration for this post came about, firstly it's Wednesday, I'm back home in Tipperary, I'm done college until Monday, my throat is badly infected, I'm miserable and Dixon's smile is the only thing making me feel that little bit better!! What, Sunday can be a rough day....
So here we go, here are some images/pics of Dix (sorry I still don't know his real name and he's always gonna be Dixon to me) now if someone could just go make me some nice hot soup, that would be lovely...

Oh dear God, thank you Adele!!! - God bless you, God bless you!!

Oíche Shamhna 2015

Halloween 2013 was a disaster, Halloween 2014 was an improvement but at the same time, still a disaster but Halloween 2015 = unreal.
Halloween for me has to include three things...
1. Friends
2. Fun and
3. Alcohol
and this Halloween consisted of loads of each and that is why Halloween 2015 was the biggest success story in years, I mean no one broke their hand, no one fell and no one cried (well, except for Karen Ryan in the disco) but everything went perfectly and I couldn't have been happier.
This Halloween we celebrated twice, once in Carlow (where I go to college) and once back home in Tipperary. Carlow being the worst of two occasions I will admit. I went as Dorothy from The Wizard Of Oz and got my costume in Party World in Waterford. I love party world, especially at Halloween I am like a child in that store, I really, really am!!
My friends also went all out this year Annmarie and Crellin went as two convicts, Carrie went as superwoman, Aisling went as a cat, Karen went with her inner style and became a '😢gangsta' #thuglife, Craig went as a robber and Paddy... well Paddy just scared me, but overall squad on fleek and we looked the part after Haleigh put blood and what not all over us!!
The girls
(Crellin, me, Annmarie and Carrie)
(Craig and I)
Dorothy and the convict.
Yep I know what you're thinking, that's some nasty gash on my face...all thanks to Haleigh at house of glam ;) but overall I think we looked pretty decent!!
The day began like no other, I was an unorganised mess who still needed to shower, clean, put up and buy decorations and on top of that I was hosting the night's party!! At around 9pm my friends began to arrive and we began the usual pre drinking games and boogied until it was time to head to the disco at 12 o'clock. Before I continue I feel like I should elaborate on 'the disco' as it's usually a talking point amongst my Carlow friends. The disco is the 'nightclub' in my town, it's real name is Utopia but trust me when I say, you will never meet anyone in this town calling it 'Utopia' I mean, trust me - no one!!
So anyway off we went for the disco at 12 and had one of the best nights of our lives, I had never been in the disco when it was so good before never!! and I don't think it will ever be as good again.
We danced the night away until half two after bumping into a few interesting characters before heading on our voyage home (via the kebab shop..hello curry cheese chip!!)
So overall Halloween 2015 was a mammoth success even though it doesn't sound anything extraordinary it's a night I will never, ever forget!! And if there's one thing I've learned this Halloween it's that  'It's never too late to make something right.' and on that note Halloween 2015...over and out!!
